Description

The name of the manufacturer COOPER has a history of over 100 years, when John F. Schaefer and Claude E. Hart bought the M and M Manufacturing Company in Akron. The company is engaged in the manufacture of materials used to vulcanize tires. A year later, in 1915, the two bought a tire retreading company, and in 1917 they moved the business to Findlay, Ohio. In 1946 the company changed its name to the Cooper Tire and Rubber Company and entered an upward stage of development, reaching 50 factories in 9 countries in 1999. In the following year, the tire manufacturer entered into a joint venture with Kenda Rubber Industrial Company Ltd., completed the sale of its automotive business, obtained ownership of 51 percent of China's third-largest tire manufacturer, and acquired the assets of a tire plant in Krusevac, Serbia. Today, COOPER is an internationally recognized company that produces a diversified range of affordable tires.
