The Blizzak LM-500 is Bridgestone's range of winter tyres that incorporates logic technology designed and applied for the first time on tyres developed for BMW models that harness the synergies of a large diameter tyre and a narrow tread design to provide increased aerodynamic efficiency and rolling resistance, while delivering improved grip. First launched in 2014, the Blizzak LM-500 winter tyre has been awarded Tire Technology of the Year, one of the industry's most prestigious awards for optical technology. Since then, it has been continuously developed and is currently available in four sizes. The Blizzak LM-500 is Bridgestone's range of winter tyres for small cars, especially electric vehicles, and was originally designed for the BMW i3 models. The Blizzak LM-500 winter tyre comes with significant improvements and allows the driver to exploit the car's capabilities in winter conditions, providing good traction in low temperatures, on dry, wet, sludge and on snow-covered roads. The composition of the Blizzak LM-500 winter tyre contains a unique polymer, developed to improve traction at low temperatures. This compound is modelled in a directional design that provides a large contact spot, taking into account how narrow the tread is, for increased efficiency on wet or snow-covered roads, providing excellent grip in winter conditions. The tyre's outer edge design ensures good handling on both dry and wet roads, while the tread blocks containing multiple sipes have been designed to provide increased grip on snow and ice for maximum control.
