Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 are high-performance summer tyres belonging to the Michelin Pilot family of low-profile, high-speed tyres. It was originally developed for OE equipment on some of the world's most prestigious sports cars and performance sedans. These Pilot Sport PS2 summer tyres combine world-class dry road traction, handling and steering capability. Some of the first Pilot Sport PS2 O.E. tyres were included as accessories for the BMW Z8 Alpina, McLaren SLR and Porsche GT2-GT3 models. On the outside, the rubber compound for these Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tyres is characterised by a hybrid silicon-carbon blend that starts on the outside of the tyre shoulder and continues transversely on the tread to enhance dry traction while a silicon-rich compound continues on the inside of the tyre shoulder to enhance wet traction, which is moulded in an asymmetrical design with large blocks on the outer shoulder and continuous intermediate and centre ribs to improve steering response and cornering stability. These summer tyres have the tread design also arranged with wide circumferential grooves and side grooves that help to evacuate water from the contact area, increasing traction on wet roads. The internal structure of these Michelin summer tyres includes two high-strength steel cable belts, which are further strengthened by optimised calibration, with precisely placed individual aramid-nylon hybrid filaments that resist rubber distortion to provide resistance at high speeds and enhance riding pleasure.
