During braking, the short-chain compound polymers in the tread composition react to the braking frequency, ensuring optimal energy absorption, while when driving at constant speed they give less vibration to the compounds so that the long-chain polymers remove the absorbed energy much better, the tyre runs more easily, remains cool, hence a considerably lower rolling resistance. The CONTINENTAL ContiSportContact 5 SUV FR summer tyres have a profile characterized by a wide central rib and two ribs of massive intermediate blocks furrowed by cross-grooves of variable width. The shoulder blocks in the outer area are numerous and of different sizes, separated by transverse grooves at large angles, while the shoulder blocks in the inner area are massive, also separated by transverse grooves at a large angle but also having a groove with the same geometric shape on their surface.
