Launched in early 2017, the Continental PremiumContact 6 asymmetrical UHP summer tyres offer maximum safety, high ride comfort and a tread design for superior handling, unifying the characteristics of sporty handling, high performance, steering precision and grip specific to the SportContact range while improving the comfort, noise and efficiency of the PremiumContact range, designed for a wide range of cars, from mid-range to SUV. The new tyre will gradually replace its successful predecessors, the ContiSportContact 5 and ContiPremiumContact 5, both of which are the best-selling Continental models on the market, both as original equipment and replacements. Bridging the gap between a sports tire and a comfortable one has forced developers at Continental to come up with innovative new solutions that include an amorphous synthetic silicon compound for short braking distances on wet roads, an abrasion-resistant polymer compound combined with a supple tread to improve rolling resistance by 15 percent and decrease noise by 10 percent, and an advanced macro-block tread design that uses long, supportive shoulder blocks that support each other, combined with asymmetrical tread geometry that provides additional grip and steering precision for sporty handling. The resulting complex block structure in the tyre shoulder is capable of transferring very high forces such as those generated in cornering extremely efficiently, while the asymmetrical structure of the tread ribs ensures a similar level of performance in the transfer of lateral guiding forces. The EU label for PremiumContact 6 summer tyres has level A for wet grip. PremiumContact 6 summer tyres are available in 70 sizes, with widths between 195 and 275 mm, series from 40 to 65, diameters from 16 to 21 inches and speed indices V and Y.
