2016 seems to be Hankook's year, with the new Ventus Prime3 tyres offering premium performance levels at a slightly lower price than those set by rivals. Designed for mid-range cars, large family cars and luxury vehicles, the HANKOOK Ventus Prime3 K125 is premium summer tyres with an asymmetrical profile that offers the perfect balance of performance and safety, replacing the Ventus Prime2 produced in 2011. Tested in March 2016 by AutoBild magazine on size 205/55 R16, in the UHP 2016 summer tyre class, the Ventus Prime3 achieved 2nd place out of 50 tyres in the braking test and first place out of 15 tyres in the full test, with the wet grip/wear ratio being one of the best, the only real weakness being an average aquaplaning performance. Compared to the Prime2, the Prime3 provides an 8 percent shorter braking distance on wet roads, a performance achieved not only with the contribution of the four massive grooves but also with the new blend with a high silica content and innovative polymers, for optimal flexibility while driving. The new asymmetrical tread design provides 10 percent more contact surface and, together with stiffer blocks and optimized grooves framing the center and midribs, have visibly improved traction and handling on dry roads, achieving a 3 percent shorter braking distance in these conditions. Also, the optimization of the rubber compound has led to a 9 percent increase in the number of kilometers traveled while modifying the tyre sidewall has reduced aerodynamic drag with the effect of drastically reducing noise while driving and reducing rolling resistance. Hankook Ventus Prime 3 tyres are mainly produced in the European Hankook plant in Hungary. They are available in 48 sizes from 185/60R15 84 H to 245/45R18 100 W with speed indices H, V, W and Y.
