Description

Tigar was founded in 1935 in Pirot, Sebia, specializing in the manufacture of rubber products and footwear. It produced the first tires in 1959. Since 1974, it has been collaborating for 23 years with the American company BFGoodrich. Following Michelin's acquisition of BFGoodrich in 1988, Tigar entered into a joint venture with Michelin in 1997 to renew the license agreement and to achieve commercial cooperation. The cooperation led to the establishment of a joint venture in 2007 under the name Tigar Tyres, in which Michelin became the majority shareholder, and in 2008 the full owner, by buying minority shares worth $47 million. Tigar Tyres produces tyres for cars, vans, trucks, agricultural machinery and motorcycles under the Michelin, Tigar, Riken, Kormoran, Orium, Strial and Taurus brands. Tigar Tyres operates as a subsidiary of the Compagnie Générale des Etablissements Michelin, their products establishing themselves in the low-end regional markets in Europe, such as Poland, Russia, Croatia, Bosnia, Macedonia, Hungary and Romania, along with the United Kingdom.
