DUNLOP Winter Sport 5 tyres are premium winter tyres with a directional profile for sports cars designed to help drivers continue to drive on the roads and in unforeseen winter conditions, including slippery frozen asphalt, sleet, patches of ice, melted snow or puddles. Designed to carry on the success of the DUNLOP Winter Sport 4D tyres, the profile of the DUNLOP Winter Sport 5 tyres offers consistent improvements with 10 percent better rolling resistance, 15 percent in ice braking and more than 10 percent in handling on ice, being superior to the SPWinter Sport 4D profile in terms of aquaplaning resistance, wet handling, snow braking, snow traction and wet braking. As for dry road braking, this is just as good as that of SPWinter Sport 4D tyres. To provide these characteristics, more than 400 R&D specialists spent 24 months testing on three different continents. While retaining the idea of the SPWinter Sport 4D profile with massive shoulder blocks, two circumferential grooves and a central rib made up of V-shaped lamellar blocks, the Winter Sport 5 profile differs in its 6 to 10 percent greater depth and groove shape, thus reducing the risk of aquaplaning, with water and melting snow being removed much more easily. Also, the shape of the lamellar blocks and the route of the grooves in the central rib is particular, including an increased number of blocks, which offer improved performance on snow-covered roads and lateral grip on slippery surfaces.
